Road acquisitions for the Queenstown trails network

Acquisition of land to reduce construction costs of a preferred alignment and improve the enjoyment and resilience of the trail network post construction.

APL Property Ltd has recently supported the Queenstown Trails Trust and Queenstown Lakes District Council with road acquisitions along the Arrowtown to Arthurs Point active trail network, utilising s114 of the Public Works Act 1981.

The Arrowtown to Arthurs Point Trail, also known as the Wharehuanui Trail, is an eagerly anticipated 17km off-road trail connecting Arrowtown to Arthurs Point in the Otago region of New Zealand.

Detailed design work identified opportunities to reposition the trail outside the legal road corridor to construct it at a lower gradient, improving the resilience of the trail and increasing enjoyment of the trail by its users. To do so, additional road was acquired to widen the construction corridor.

APL Property Ltd is proud to have supported the trail development by supporting timely negotiations and LINZ accredited acquisition services.
