Kurahaupo Treaty Negotiations - Nelson / Marlborough

The combined tribal area of the three iwi covers the entire Top of the South Island north of a line from the Clarence River in the east to Westport on the West Coast.

Stakeholders

Kurahaupo Ki Te Waipounamu Trust which was formed as a single large entity to secure a comprehensive Treaty of Waitangi settlement for Ngati Apa, Ngati Kuia and Rangitane.

APL's contribution

APL has worked with Kurahaupo since 2000 on Treaty settlement claims. It undertook a review of over 2000 Crown owned land holdings in the Buller, Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough

regions and provided a graduated portfolio database including property analysis, feasibility and strategic property advice to Kurahaupo in preparation for their Treaty of Waitangi Settlement negotiations.

APL worked alongside Kurahaupo during Treaty negotiations to provide information, guidance,strategic advice, mediation and facilitation services towards a successful settlement conclusion.

Since Settlement APL continues to work closely with Te Runanga a Rangitane O Wairau Trust on management of its projects, strategic development and development of its investment

strategies.
