Project Details

The project objective was to provide a large-scale community hub that enabled the cohesive and collaborative relationship between the public, visitors to the region, Library staff and users, Art Gallery staff and exhibitors, local iwi. This has been fully realised beyond expectations, with visitor numbers over 500 per day.

The size of the project required two stage tendering-an EOI, followed by a selected tenderers situation, mitigation around COVID restrictions and consideration of neighbouring business during large scale delivery

Despite challenges like a tight timeframe and a historic site, the project is a testament to robust procurement, design, and construction processes.

The success of the project was recognised in the Master builders National Awards.
